Diane Terrell

FedEx Corporation

Vice President, Strategic Communications

Diane Terrell

Diane Terrell's role as Vice President of Strategic Communications for FedEx Corporation is to connect with both internal and external audiences to build personal engagement and loyalty among customers and employees.

To truly reach those goals she directs Workplace Communications, Marketplace Communications, Broadcast and Interactive Unit, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Her efforts in each of these areas is  built on the foundation of the Purple Promise, which expresses a commitment to provide an outstanding experience for everyone inside and outside the company.

The company is using interactive media to reach sophisticated audiences globally. The transition represents the convergence of broadcast, electronic and print media. Diane served as producer for National Geographic Television, was a reporter and producer at ABC News in New York, Paris and Washington, D.C., and owned her own consulting firm specializing in documentary programming for cable audiences.  This experience makes her imminently qualified for the broad scope of her responsibility at FedEx.

Diane directs FedEx Corporate Social Responsibility/Ethnic Outreach, a commitment to build relationships and offer groups experiences to promote civil rights and equality in our communities. An example is the company's sponsorship of The National Civil Rights Museum, which enlightens people about the struggles to achieve diversity. Scholarship funds provide educational opportunities to minority youth. FedEx also helps individuals compete in today's global marketplace. As we expand into other countries, we strive to build relationships with African-American, Hispanic, Asian and other diverse audiences.

FedEx has been in the top 10 on the Fortune magazine "World's Most Admired Companies Best Places to Work" and the Harris Interactive Wall Street Journal Most Reputable Companies list.  The communications department has been instrumental in earning those awards. Diane has received numerous awards presented by both FedEx and by external groups such as the Telly (television excellence) Awards and the Public Relations Society of America.

Diane plays key roles in several community organizations. She is a member of the board of Teach for America (TFA) in Memphis, TN, and has provided strategic direction for the philanthropic partnership between TFA and FedEx. She also is a member of the Leadership Memphis Class of 2009.

Diane graduated from Georgetown University and studied at La Sorbonne and L'institut d'Etudes Politique in Paris.
